The gallery section at the 2010 Photo and Film Expo at the Coca-Cola dome in Northgate, Johannesburg.
3 days after the closing of the 2010 Photo and Film Expo held at the Coca-Cola dome in Johannesburg I set off on another incredible journey and never got time to give my feedback on the expo. I foolishly thought I would find time while travelling to catch up on some blogging but my days were jam-packed full of photography and by the time the sun had set I had barely enough energy left for a quick dinner, shower and off-loading memory cards. But as they say, better late than never.
First off compared to the first photo and film expo in 2009, the organisers reported that figures through the doors had dwindled in comparison but overall there was still a very good attendance. My exhibit really caught the attention of those who ventured into the gallery section and it was great to see how people reacted to my photography and fine art displays. I had a number of people email me to say they never intended on visiting the expo but made special trips to the expo just to see my works and it was great to hear this kind of feedback. One person even emailed me to say that he came three days in a row to come and look at my work as clearly once was not enough for him and I was chuffed receiving an email like that.
Visitor's stopping by to view the displays of my fine art prints at the Photo Film Expo 2010.
Overall the feedback and comments were very positive with most people stopping for a good couple of minutes to look at the canvas’ and framed fine art prints and even though the prints I displayed were never for sale at the Expo, one gentleman would simply not leave me alone on the last day and insisted he was taking the one canvas home with him that night. After a bit of negotiation and bending my arm he won the battle and at break down time on Sunday evening he eagerly awaited his new print for his house. That print just recently took 1st runner up the Fujifilm Getaway Wildlife Awards 2010.

It was a great experience to put up a big display and get the feedback and comments that I received and I’ll no doubt be back at the Photo and Film Expo 2011 with even more works from recent travels. I’ll also be doing some exhibits elsewhere in 2011 but will notify you all through my social networks and mailing lists as they materialise.
Thank you to everyone who visited the stand, it was great to meet so many fans and admirers and to hear your comments and feedback in person. See you at other exhibits in 2011.

Moments before the opening of the Photo Film Expo 2010 at the Coca Cola Dome at Northgate, JHB
Today at 9pm the Photo Film Expo 2010 opened it’s doors to the public for Africa’s largest photography and film exhibition. The show was very well attended for the first day and it seems quite certain that tomorrow and the weekend will be a total madhouse but it’s good to see so many photography lovers flocking to see the latest and greatest offerings. The top camera and optics vendors are all respresented at this year’s show and anything else to do with photography and printing is all there for you to see. The show runs until Sunday evening and it’s highly recommended to make the time and get across to the Coca Cola Dome at Northate, JHB.
The exhibit of wildlife prints at the Photo Film Expo 2010 being held at the Coca-Cola Dome at Northgate from 14-17 October 2010. The 3 canvas prints on the right are up for grabs in our competition.
You can see my exhibited works in the gallery section close to the Sony display area, presentation are and stage. There are two displays, one under the Living Canvas brand and the other under Mitchell Krog Photography, I look forward to meeting you there and hope you make it through to see a really great photographic show.
You also stand the chance of winning a set of 3 fine art wildlife prints on canvas and can see these prints on display at the exhibit.

The Living Canvas Exhibit at the Photo Film Expo 2010
The Photo Film Expo looks set to top last year’s expo with even more exhibitors and vendors than you could imagine. There will be free workshops and demonstrations held all day long. It’s a great outing for the family and an even better way to support South African Photography.
Click here for more details on the Expo.
You can also see some of my other work in a different section of the gallery under the Living Canvas brand.
If you miss out on this year’s expo, you’ll be kicking yourself for another 365 days.
