Brothers in Arms – Lion Cub Photos

I captured this image one morning back in 2009 shortly before sunrise in the Sabi Sands reserve in South Africa. We had arrived at a nearby watering hole to find the Mapogo pride of lions with a bunch of young cubs who were all in a very playful mood. All you could hear non stop from our vehicles was the sound of shutters firing as our camera’s consumed hundreds of lion cub photos. I caught …

Lion Cubs in the Maasai Mara – Kenya

On an afternoon drive in the Maasai Mara we came across a pride of lion lazing around (big surprise) and sleeping in the long grass near a rivine. My Kingdom – Male Lion on the Plains of the Maasai Mara in Kenya

At one point he stopped looked straight at me and I grabbed this image of him with his entire kingdom stretching out behind him. There’s often too much focus these days on extreme close ups of animals filling the entire frame, even I’m guilty of that, but I like to often try and capture the animal in his environment. Lions …

Lioness on Guard – Maasai Mara, Kenya

One morning in the Maasai Mara we came across a pride of lion relatively close to where the famous Marsh pride reside. Our guides informed us this pride was not from the area so they were extremely watchful and cautious of being noticed by other prides in this territory. For one brief moment this lioness stood up alarmed and looked off into the distance with that real wild cat look in her eyes. We came …
