We came across a female Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) with two cubs on a late afternoon drive in the Maasai Mara. It was quite heavily overcast that afternoon and light conditions were challenging to say the least but this did not stop any of us from pushing our camera’s to the limits. Cheetah cubs are the cutest fluffiest little things and they are also incredibly active. We watched the two cubs playing with each other for a good 30 minutes and in between their own playing they would gang up and pounce on their mom who just lay there and tolerated them. At one point this cub stopped his playing looked off into the distance and click went the shutter. I had to push ISO on the camera to 1600 and use some subtle fill flash to add some additional light and I’m pleased with the resulting image.
